Alpha Vision chose the Silicon Graphics platform four years ago, after
trying PC and Macintosh systems. The company quickly realized that the
results on PCs or Mac platforms were not realistic enough, and that
renderings took up to seven days to generate--far too long for a company
that wanted to deliver high-quality presentations in record time.
| "We needed a lot more computing power, and we wanted the best tools for 3D
modeling," Lamoureux says. "Right out of the box, we got graphics quality
and speed that other vendors couldn't approach without adding a lot more
hardware, and a lot more cost. The workstations and the 3D visualization
software give us a huge competitive edge in the marketplace."
